What does StorySplice generate?

StorySplice combines an editable script, stock footage, synthetic narration, optional background music and styled captions into a downloadable MP4.

Can I use my own script, video and music?

Yes. You can paste your own script, upload local video files up to 150 MB each and upload a supported background-music file up to 30 MB. You are responsible for having the rights required to use uploaded material.

Which video formats are supported?

You can create portrait 9:16 or landscape 16:9 videos, with target lengths from approximately 15 to 60 seconds. Choose portrait for phone-first feeds and landscape for conventional widescreen players.

Can I preview a video before downloading it?

Yes. Completed videos can be played in the browser and downloaded as MP4 files from the project workspace or Recent videos.

How long are videos stored?

Generated task media, uploaded local videos and uploaded background music are scheduled for automatic deletion after seven days. Download anything you want to keep.

Can I use generated videos commercially?

The Terms permit lawful personal or commercial use to the extent allowed by law, but you must review the result and secure all necessary rights, licenses and permissions.

Think of the video as connected decisions

A script change affects voice duration. Voice duration affects clip timing. Clip timing affects caption breaks. Caption placement affects whether important visuals remain visible. Treating those controls as unrelated is a common reason an otherwise polished video feels inconsistent.

Approve each layer before spending time on the next. Automation is most valuable when it creates an editable first pass, not when it hides decisions that still need review.

Approve a narrow creative brief

Define the subject, audience, purpose, language, target duration and aspect ratio. Add any facts that must be included and any claims that must not be made. A useful brief reduces hallucination risk and gives visual searches a consistent direction.

Use AI for the draft, then edit as the responsible publisher

Generate or outline the script from the approved brief. Check whether the opening identifies the subject, whether each sentence advances the explanation and whether the ending resolves the promise. Remove repetition, vague superlatives and claims that cannot be supported visually or factually.

Read the script aloud. Synthetic narration exposes dense clauses and awkward punctuation quickly. Keep a final approved version before generating captions. If the subject is sensitive or rapidly changing, verify it against current authoritative sources and involve a qualified reviewer where appropriate.

Create a scene plan before downloading footage

Break the narration wherever the subject, action, place or stage changes. Give each beat one primary search and one fallback. Searches should describe visible scenes. “Solar panel converting sunlight” is still abstract; “sunlight on rooftop solar panels close-up” describes something a camera can capture.

Review the entire clip, record its source and test the final crop. Avoid using stock actors in a way that implies they are actual customers, employees, patients or experts. When visuals are illustrative rather than documentary evidence, write the narration so that distinction remains honest.

Test the selected voice with difficult words first

Generate a short sample containing names, abbreviations, numbers and domain-specific terms. Check pronunciation before producing the full voiceover. Adjust punctuation or wording when the voice inserts unnatural pauses. If the narration exceeds the target, shorten the script rather than relying on an uncomfortable speed increase.

Mix music only after the voice is understandable. Compare phone speakers and headphones. A restrained track can support pace, but speech should remain the focal point. Keep proof of permission for uploaded or selected music.

Generate subtitles from the final narration

Captions should match the wording that the viewer hears. Generate or edit them after the voiceover is approved. Use meaningful phrase breaks, readable contrast and a size that works on the smallest intended screen. Check that platform controls, faces, products and visual evidence remain unobstructed.

Burned-in subtitles improve consistency across players but cannot be switched off or corrected after export. That makes spelling and timing review essential. Separate subtitle files offer more flexibility but depend on the publishing platform. StorySplice currently produces styled captions inside the final video.

Render once, then inspect the exported file—not only the preview

Watch the preview for creative problems, then download and play the MP4. Confirm orientation, resolution, duration, first and final frames, audio sync and seeking. Watch once without pausing for comprehension and once with deliberate pauses for crop, logos, caption timing and visual relevance.

Fixing the earliest faulty layer is usually more reliable than adding effects later. A transition cannot repair an unsupported script, and a caption background cannot repair an incorrect statement.
